The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a motivated, professional leader to serve as our Chief Bailiff. This position is responsible for overseeing courtroom security operations, supervising bailiffs, coordinating courtroom coverage, and serving as the primary liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and the courts.
We are looking for individuals with strong leadership skills and sound judgment. Ideal candidates include:

* Retired law enforcement officers
* Veterans or individuals with a military background
* Individuals with proven leadership and supervisory experience in other professions
The Chief Bailiff plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of judges, court staff, jurors, attorneys, and the public while maintaining the integrity and orderly operation of our court system.
Preferred Qualifications

* Proven leadership and supervisory experience
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
* Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to work effectively with judges, court personnel, law enforcement, and the public
Employment Requirements

* Successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation
* Pass a pre-employment drug screening
* Successfully complete the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) Bailiff Academy, a two-week training course, upon hire

Chief Bailiff Job Description

The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for collecting property taxes.  Tax bills are mailed out to the property owners at the end of September and collection begins October 1st of each year.  If you have questions concerning your tax bill please call the office at (270)726-2244 between 8am-4pm Monday through Friday.

If you are 65 or older (or 100% disabled) please contact the PVA’s Office at (270)726-8334 to receive the Homestead Exemption.

Payments made:

October 1st – November 1st receive a 2% discount

November 2nd – December 31st face value of tax bill

January 1st – January 31st receive 5% penalty

February 1st – Close of business April 15th receive a 10% penalty + 10% Sheriff’s add on fee

Payment can be made in the form of check, cash, money order or debit/credit card however a convenience fee does apply.  Partial payments are not accepted at this time.  Postmarks are accepted, online payments must be received by the dates specified above.
